Sentani Customary Leader Urges Papuans to Support Security Forces in Maintaining Order After Papua Gubernatorial Election PSU

Jayapura – Chairman of the Sentani Customary Council, Yacob Fiobetauw, has called on all Papuans—particularly residents of Jayapura Regency and Jayapura City—to support security forces in maintaining a conducive situation following the Papua Gubernatorial Election Re-vote (PSU). As of Sunday (August 17, 2025), the General Elections Commission (KPU) is still conducting the plenary vote recapitulation process.

“We urge the public not to be easily provoked by irresponsible parties seeking to disrupt the vote recapitulation stages,” he stressed.

Yacob, who also serves as Ondofolo (traditional leader) of Puay Village, highlighted the importance of community participation in remaining calm and assisting security personnel in safeguarding order throughout the democratic process.

“Once again, we ask for the community’s support to work together with security forces in maintaining public order until the entire process is properly completed,” he concluded.
