Jayapura — Member of the Papua Provincial Legislative Council (DPRP), Albert Merauje, has called on the public to safeguard unity and togetherness following the Papua regional election re-vote held on August 6, 2025.
He stressed that political differences should never become a source of division.
In his statement on Tuesday (Aug. 12), Merauje highlighted the importance of accepting the democratic outcome with an open heart.
“Your choices may differ, but unity and harmony must always be preserved,” he said.
He also expressed concern over demonstrations by supporters and volunteers of certain candidates that have caused traffic congestion in Jayapura City.
Merauje urged the public to exercise restraint and patiently wait for the official results from the Papua General Elections Commission (KPU).
As of now, the vote counting process from the re-vote is still ongoing.
He reminded citizens to let go of jealousy, hatred, and division for the sake of maintaining stability and peace in Papua.
