Keerom, Papua — Papuan traditional leader and Great Wikaya Tribal Chief of Keerom Regency, Herman Yoku, has issued an appeal to all Papuans — particularly residents of Keerom Regency — to maintain peace and unity following the re-vote in the Papua gubernatorial election (May 15, 2025).
In his statement, Yoku stressed the importance of rejecting hoaxes and provocations that could divide communities. He urged the public to entrust the entire electoral process and its results to the General Elections Commission (KPU), the official authority responsible for overseeing elections.
“Don’t believe hoaxes. Leave everything to the KPU. Don’t bring down one candidate pair over another. Let’s keep Papua peaceful,” Yoku said.
He further emphasized that whoever is elected is among Papua’s finest sons and should be respected and supported for the advancement of the region.
“Whoever wins is one of Papua’s best native sons. We must unite in supporting them for a better future for Papua,” he added.
