Yahukimo — The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 has successfully conducted an interrogation of a man named Wanggol Sobolim (22), who is strongly suspected of being involved in two serious criminal acts in Yahukimo Regency: the assault of Agustinus Lambi and the murder of La Jahari on May 2, 2025. The interrogation took place on Saturday (July 26, 2025) at approximately 18:05 WIT and was led by Aipda Harianto Sitompul, S.H.
Wanggol Sobolim, a resident of Dekai District, Yahukimo, admitted during the interrogation that he had joined an armed criminal group (KKB) known as the Sisibia Battalion since 2022 and confessed to being the primary perpetrator of both violent acts that claimed the lives of civilians.
According to the interrogation findings, on January 30, 2025, Wanggol acted alone in the murder of La Jahari on Gunung Street, Yahukimo. Meanwhile, on May 2, 2025, he, along with two accomplices, Ben Sobolim and Kasimbi Silak, carried out a brutal attack on Agustinus Lambi, a water gallon truck driver, in the Social Housing area along the Logpon Main Road KM 4. The attack was preceded by the consumption of alcoholic beverages, followed by stone-throwing, stabbing of the victim, and robbery of a mobile phone. After committing the assault, the perpetrators fled and hid near the Braza River.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that this interrogation serves as clear evidence that the legal approach remains the primary focus in ensuring justice and stability in Papua.
“We will continue to investigate the involvement of other individuals mentioned during this interrogation and ensure that all perpetrators of crimes against civilians are brought to justice. There is no room for violence in Papua. Justice must prevail,” asserted Brig. Gen. Faizal.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., added that this success should be met with public support.
“We remain committed to transparency and accountability in every legal action we take. We also urge the public not to hesitate to report any suspicious activities and to support the creation of a peaceful environment in Yahukimo and its surroundings,” he stated.
