Timika, Central Papua — A warm and spirited atmosphere filled the courtyard of Torsina Elementary School in Mimika Regency on Monday (July 21, 2025), as personnel from the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force engaged in a joyful activity with local children. Carrying the spirit of peace and compassion, the task force worked to strengthen bonds with the community, especially children, through entertaining cultural performances.
Led directly by the Deputy Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Police Commissioner Yusuf Tauziri, S.I.K., the officers joined the children in performing the Pacu Jalur dance — a traditional dance that has recently gone viral on social media. Joy radiated from the children’s faces as they enthusiastically followed the energetic dance moves led by the police officers.
Beyond dancing, the task force also handed out candies and small gifts as gestures of care and attention toward the children. This simple act reflected a different side of policing — one that embraces the role of friend and protector of Papua’s younger generation, not just law enforcer.
The Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operations Commissioner Adharma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that a human-centered approach is a vital part of the peace-building strategy in Papua.
“We want to grow and move forward together with the Papuan people. Children are the future — they deserve our full protection and support so that Papua can thrive in peace and prosperity,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., added that every child has the right to be happy, to play, and to live in a safe environment.
“Through this kind of humanistic approach, we aim to be present among them as a source of hope and comfort,” he said.
This activity serves as a reminder that peace is not always achieved through weapons or patrols, but also through warm presence, cheerful smiles, and meaningful dances.
