Jayapura — A respected Papuan religious leader, Rev. Dr. Yones Wenda, has expressed his strong support for the firm actions taken by Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 in addressing the violent acts perpetrated by the Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) in Papua. According to him, the presence of the task force represents the state’s real commitment to protecting the people of Papua.
In a statement delivered in Jayapura, Friday (July 18, 2025), Rev. Wenda conveyed his deep appreciation for the dedication of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, which continues to maintain stability and public order in conflict-prone areas.
“We highly appreciate the consistent efforts of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 in upholding the law and ensuring the safety of the Papuan people,” he said.
He emphasized that firm actions against armed groups are a reflection of the state’s responsibility to protect its citizens from inhumane violence. He also strongly condemned the brutal acts committed by KKB, saying such actions are contrary to the noble values upheld by the Papuan community.
Rev. Dr. Yones Wenda further called on all elements of society—traditional leaders, youth, and religious figures—to unite in preserving peace and to not be easily provoked by parties seeking to divide the community.
“We all share the responsibility of maintaining public security and order while denying space to those who wish to disrupt the harmony we have built. Papua is a land of peace, and it is time for us to live side by side without violence,” he stressed.
He concluded his statement by urging the public to fully support the government’s efforts in building lasting peace in the Land of Cenderawasih.
