Acting Governor of Papua Urges Regional Offices to Remain Neutral Ahead of Election Re-Vote

Jayapura (ANTARA) – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, has firmly reminded all regional government offices (OPDs) in the province to maintain neutrality and avoid involvement in practical politics ahead of the re-vote (PSU) for the Papua Regional Head Election.

“I have repeatedly reminded regents, mayors, and OPD officials not to get involved in political activities. Everyone must work professionally,” said Fatoni during a statement in Jayapura on Thursday.

He emphasized that civil servants (ASN) play a critical role in ensuring the PSU is conducted in a safe and orderly manner.

“ASN must stay focused on implementing national priority programs such as the Merah Putih Cooperative, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), the provision of three million decent homes, and the People’s School initiative,” he explained.

Fatoni stressed that OPDs are responsible for delivering quality public services and should not be influenced by political interests.

“When civil servants stay away from practical politics, it helps safeguard neutrality, professionalism, and the overall quality of public service,” he added.

He concluded that maintaining the neutrality of government institutions is key to ensuring that public services remain objective and are not driven by political agendas.
