Amid the tense atmosphere in Intan Jaya and Puncak, a glimmer of hope has emerged through the swift action of the Central Papua Provincial Government. Under the direct instruction of the Governor, a Crisis Center Team has been officially formed to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from the escalating conflict in recent days.
The state of emergency declared by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the regents of the two affected districts has prompted accelerated coordination across government agencies. Victor Fun, the official appointed to lead the team, affirmed his commitment to quickly bring together all relevant government bodies in a coordination meeting in Nabire.
“We will sit down with the district BPBDs, the Social Affairs Office, the Health Office, and other partners to formulate concrete steps. We will tackle this one issue at a time,” said Victor Fun optimistically.
The primary mission of the team is to ensure the availability and distribution of essential supplies such as food and medicine to affected residents, while also working to maintain stability and public safety in Central Papua.
