Jayapura — A prominent Papuan academic, Dr. Alfius Aninam, S.Th., M.Pd., has urged students not to engage in activities that could be detrimental to themselves or disrupt public order in Papua. He delivered this message during a statement in Jayapura on Saturday (May 10, 2025).
According to Dr. Alfius, the overall security situation in Papua remains conducive. However, he emphasized the need for continued vigilance, as there are still areas vulnerable to security disturbances.
“As an academic, I urge students, activists, and the entire academic community to focus on their main responsibility as learners. Study in peace and stay committed to your education. You are the hope of your parents, churches, mosques, temples, and all elements of society,” he stated.
He also highlighted the strategic role of students in building the nation’s future. Therefore, he reminded them not to be easily provoked into joining actions that may lead to social instability.
“We must exercise restraint and avoid getting involved in anything that could disrupt peace and endanger our own future,” he stressed.
On that occasion, Dr. Alfius also expressed his support for the implementation of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, which he believes has been working optimally in maintaining security stability and promoting peace in Papua.
“Indonesia will remain strong. Once NKRI, always NKRI,” he concluded.
With this appeal, it is hoped that students and the academic community will act more wisely and contribute positively to creating a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment in Papua.
