10 High Schools and Vocational Schools in Timika Advance to 2025 Tax Ambassador Semifinals

Timika – Ten high schools and vocational schools in Timika have officially advanced to the semifinal round of the 2025 Regional Tax Ambassador competition. The selection process was organized by the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province, with the written test stage held on May 5, 2025.

Chairman of the 2025 Tax Ambassador Selection Committee, Darius Sabon, confirmed that 10 student pairs representing various schools successfully made it to the semifinal stage based on the jury’s assessment.

“Yes, 10 pairs representing high schools and vocational schools in Timika have qualified for the semifinal round,” Darius stated in Timika on Monday (5/5/2025).

The top 10 semifinalists and their scores are as follows:
1. Shining Stars Christian High School – 88 (1st place)
2. Mimika Public High School 1 – 84 (2nd place)
3. Mimika Public High School 4 – 82 (3rd place)
4. Mimika Public High School 2 – 71 (4th place)
5. Mimika Public Vocational School 3 for Health and Social Work – 70 (5th place)
6. Advent Private High School Timika – 68 (6th place)
7. YPK Tiga Raja Private High School – 66 (7th place)
8. Mimika Public High School 6 – 65 (8th place)
9. Santa Maria Catholic Private High School – 64 (9th place)
10. Mimika Public High School 7 – 62 (10th place)

According to Darius, the judging panel consisted of representatives from Jambatan Bulan School of Economics, tax professionals, and entertainment figures.

“The semifinalists must now prepare thoroughly for the next round, which will take place on May 9, 2025,” he added.

In the semifinal stage, participants will compete in two categories: a more advanced quiz-style competition and the creation of tax-themed posters combining both text and visuals. The top three teams with the highest scores will move on to the final round, scheduled for May 19, 2025.

To show appreciation, all semifinalists will receive certificates and transportation allowances. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to the winners: IDR 30 million for first place, IDR 25 million for second place, and IDR 20 million for third place.

“The winning pair will also be contracted by Bapenda for one year to serve as ambassadors promoting regional tax awareness,” Darius concluded.
