Impact of the Riot: Hundreds of Buildings Burned Down

PUNCAK JAYA – The material losses resulting from the clashes are equally concerning. A total of 201 buildings were reported burned down, including residential houses and important public facilities. Among them are one elementary school, several government offices, and a political party office.

The burned buildings include 196 residential houses, SD Pruleme Belakang Toba Jaya, the village hall of Kampung Trikora, the district office of Irimuli, the Partai Gelora office, and the Pagaleme village hall. This damage undoubtedly has a significant impact on educational activities, public services, and the social life of the local community.

This situation demonstrates that the conflict, which was originally political in nature, has expanded into the realms of human welfare and development. The loss of homes, public facilities, and the ensuing social trauma have become additional burdens that the residents of Puncak Jaya Regency must bear.
