Jayapura, March 19, 2025 — The Deputy Chairperson II of the Papua People’s Assembly (MRP) and Chairperson of the Red and White Front of the Republic of Indonesia (BMP-RI-Papua) for Papua Province, Max Abner Ohee, has expressed his support for the government’s Free Nutritious Food (MBG) Program.
During an interview in Jayapura on Wednesday (3/19), Max Abner Ohee emphasized that this program has a positive impact on the growth and health of schoolchildren in Papua.
“This MBG program is very beneficial for supporting the growth and health of schoolchildren in Papua by ensuring they receive healthy food intake according to government nutrition standards,” he said.
He added that many children often skip school due to not having breakfast or enough food. With this program, he believes that children’s motivation to study has increased.
“In the past, many children skipped school because they were hungry or didn’t have enough food. However, with this program, they are more enthusiastic about going to school because they know they will receive nutritious meals,” he explained.
Moreover, Max Abner Ohee also encouraged parents to play an active role in educating their children to avoid being influenced by certain parties with vested interests.
“We also highly hope for the active role of parents in providing good understanding to their children so they won’t be easily influenced by individuals or groups with personal interests who exploit children as victims,” he stressed.
The MBG program in Papua is expected to serve as a solution for improving the quality of education and health among children in the region, helping them grow into a healthier and smarter generation.
