Jayapura – The Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) of Papua Province, led by Mandate Chairman Jhoni Jonatan Numberi, held a meeting with Commission IV of the Papua Regional House of Representatives (DPR Papua), which oversees infrastructure and natural resource (SDA) management. The meeting aimed to introduce PII’s role in providing technical recommendations to the government regarding development in Papua.
Jhoni Numberi emphasized that PII is ready to contribute to accelerating development, particularly in infrastructure sectors such as roads, bridges, ports, airports, and waste management. He also encouraged professional engineering education for engineering graduates to strengthen human resources in Papua.
The Chairman of the PII Jayapura Branch, Ahmad Suharto, added that the meeting produced various insights to enhance synergy between PII and DPR Papua. According to him, the potential of engineers in Jayapura should be fully utilized in regional development projects.
DPR Papua member, Dr. Ir. Albert Merauje, highlighted the crucial role of engineers in creating high-quality infrastructure. He criticized the lack of engineer involvement in development projects, which often leads to technical issues. Albert affirmed that DPR Papua is ready to establish closer cooperation with PII to improve development in Papua.
