Papua Highlands Provincial Government Appreciates the Work of the Special Committee on DPRP Rules

Wamena – The Papua Highlands Provincial Government has expressed its appreciation for the hard work of the special committee (Pansus) in drafting the rules of procedure (Tatib) for the Papua Highlands Regional House of Representatives (DPRP).

Acting Governor of Papua Highlands, Velix V. Wanggai, stated during the DPRP plenary session on Monday that the drafting of these rules marks an initial step in structuring the internal working mechanisms of the DPRP and strengthening coordination between the legislative and executive branches.

According to him, the adoption of these rules will assist the provincial government in further regulatory processing through the Legal Bureau. Additionally, the rules will serve as a guideline for DPRP members in carrying out their duties in various commissions, such as the deliberation body, budget committee, and ethics council.

These rules also act as a bridge for managing regulations and policies, particularly in overseeing the 2025 regional budget (APBD) and planning regional development under the 2024-2029 RPJMD. Velix emphasized that the DPR serves an aspirational function, ensuring that public aspirations are reflected in government policies.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Papua Highlands DPRP, Yos Elopere, stated that the adoption of these rules forms the foundation for establishing the council’s complementary bodies (AKD). Although there have been delays due to adjustments at the ministerial level, he remains optimistic that the process will soon be completed, allowing the DPRP to function effectively.
