Indonesian National Police Reaffirms Commitment to Public Order and Enhanced Supervision in Papua

Jayapura, January 9, 2025 – In a strategic move to strengthen public security and order (Kamtibmas) in Papua, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Head of Internal Affairs (Irwasum Polri), Police Commissioner General Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, S.H., M.Hum., M.Si., M.M., delivered key directives to all Polri officials via a video conference on Thursday evening, January 9.

The briefing was attended by Deputy Regional Police Chief Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., along with senior Polri officials from across Indonesia, including those from the Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua).

Held at the Cenderawasih Hall of Polda Papua in Jayapura, the session focused on evaluating police performance on the ground, strengthening personnel supervision, and formulating strategic measures to address issues that may impact the stability of public order in the region.

Irwasum Polri emphasized the critical need for synergy between the police force and the community to create a safe and conducive environment. He instructed an increase in the supervision of firearm distribution and ensured that all personnel on the field are thoroughly trained and adhere to established rules and procedures.

“Discipline and strict supervision are key to maintaining public trust in the Indonesian National Police,” Irwasum Polri stated firmly.

Additional directives from Deputy Regional Police Chief Brigadier General Pol. Faizal Ramadhani underscored the importance of preventive measures in handling cases that could potentially cause societal unrest.

“A maintained public order is the result of effective supervision, active collaboration with the community, and the commitment of every Polri member to perform their duties professionally and humanely,” Ramadhani affirmed.

The meeting proceeded smoothly and orderly, reflecting Polri’s serious dedication to upholding the stability of public order. With these directives, it is anticipated that all Polri ranks will become more unified and responsive in tackling challenges within their respective regions.

This initiative aligns with Polri’s ongoing efforts to enhance its operational effectiveness and improve its relationship with the community, ensuring a peaceful and secure Papua in the years to come.
