Kamoro Tribal Leader Mimika Urges the 2024 Papua Regional Election to Run Safely and Peacefully

Timika – Kamoro Tribe Traditional Leader, Marianus Magnaiteku, appealed for the implementation of the 2024 regional elections in Papua to take place safely and peacefully without disturbance, Thursday (07/11/2024).

In his message, Marianus reminded that the Pilkada is not just about differences in choices, but rather a joint opportunity to celebrate democracy in the land of Papua. He invited all parties to support the smooth running of the regional elections for the sake of making Papua, which is our common home, better.

“I appeal to all Papuan people to maintain peace and security during the regional election process. “We must always remember to protect our home, Papua, and always maintain peace so that Papua continues to be a peaceful and better land,” said Marianus.

Furthermore, Marianus emphasized that Pilkada is a national agenda. Therefore, he invited the public to avoid all forms of action that could trigger friction, both between candidate pairs and between supporters so that the regional elections could run safely and smoothly.

“We must avoid all forms of friction that could destroy peace on the land of Cenderawasih. “By maintaining calm and order, Papua can become an example of implementing democracy that is peaceful and full of togetherness,” he added.

Marianus also hopes that all elements of society can work together to make the 2024 Pilkada a success, so that Papua can remain a safe and peaceful region amidst differences in choices and maintain unity and prevent potential conflicts that could arise between candidate pairs (paslon) and between supporters.
