Jayapura – Chairman of Central Mountain Family Harmony, Keerom Regency, Simon Kosay, asked the public to support the holding of simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada) in 2024.
“The implementation of peaceful regional elections cannot be separated from the participation of the community, therefore let us make peaceful elections a success,” he said, Thursday (15/8) afternoon.
According to Simon, elections are a means for change in a region.
“Let’s elect leaders who can bring change, don’t choose the wrong leaders because of money,” he said.
Apart from that, Simon asked Keerom residents, especially mountain communities, to always be wise in receiving information from various parties, especially on social media pages.
“I ask the public to maintain security stability to enliven the democratic party in the future,” he explained.
Asked about whether there was a group of people who rejected the implementation of the elections, Simon said, this group or individuals were citizens who did not want change.
He also emphasized that the actions of groups and individuals who voiced opposition to the election were only a handful of people, not voicing the entire community in the Land of Papua.
“I have told the entire community that if there is a problem to quickly coordinate, to find a solution without harming many parties,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, regarding the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day, he asked the public to join hands to celebrate independence by maintaining security.
“The Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day is a party for the people, let’s rejoice, without being instigated by irresponsible individuals.
