Chairman of Gercin Papua: TNPB-OPM Uses Viral Video About Torture by Officials to Disturb Security and Community Security Conditions in the Land of Papua

Jayapura- Chairman of Gercin Papua, Hendrik Yance Udam invited all Papuan people to maintain calm and peace and not be influenced by negative issues that have the potential to disrupt social security and order.

He conveyed this on Saturday 30 March at the Horizon Abepura Hotel. “I invite all people in Papua to always maintain a situation of security and peace, and not be taken advantage of by negative issues that damage social security and order.”

Furthermore, he conveyed that regarding the viral video of violence carried out by members of the TNI, he appreciated the steps taken by the Commander of the XVII Cenderawasih Military Command, Major General Izak Pangemanan, who in his statement had clarified and would take action against these individual members of the TNI.

“We appreciate the steps taken by the Military Commander to apologize directly to all Papuan people and provide clarification and promise to take firm action against these individual members of the TNI. “We also do not agree with any acts of violence that occur in the Land of Papua, including actions carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB),” he explained.

He also said that certain groups were taking advantage of the viral issue to provoke the emotions of the people in Papua to take advantage of the social security and order situation which is currently very conducive.

“There are groups who want to create a situation in the Land of Papua that is not conducive to conflict by exploiting this issue, this is what I think we must not be easily provoked, we support the efforts of the TNI/Polri to always maintain the situation in Papua so that it is always safe and peaceful,” concluded .
