News Zealand Police Liaison Officer Meets Papua Police Chief and Head of Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops to Discuss Release of Susi Air Pilot

Jayapura- News Zealand Police Liaison Officer, Mr. Paull Borrel, paid a working visit to the Papua Police in order to meet with the Papua Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Mathius D. Fakhiri, and the Head of Cartenz-2024 Peace Operations, Kombes Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos. S.I.K., M.H., discussed the release of the Susi Air pilot, Captain Philip Mark Merhtens who had been taken hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya. The meeting took place on Monday/26/02/2024.

Present at the meeting were New Zealand policy adviser officer Awan Poesoro, and Papua Police chief officials as well as Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops chief officials. The meeting focused on the release of Susi Air Pilot, Captain Philip Mark Merhtens.

The Papua Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Mathius D. Fakhiri, said the Police through the Papua Police and Operation Peace Cartenz-2024 had made serious efforts to free the Susi Air pilot.

“We have made a Special Operation for the release of Susi Air pilot, Captain Philip Mark Merhtens with the password, Operation Paro. This is a form of the seriousness of the Police,” said the Papua Police Chief.

Inspector General of Police Mathius D. Fakhiri, also reminded the New Zealand government not to be persuaded by the propaganda of Benny Wenda and Veronica Koman as well as, figures from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) and other Political Criminal Groups (KKP).

Benny Wenda and Veronica Koman as well as, figures from the KKB Group and other KKP, they are irresponsible parties so with that, we hope that the New Zealand government can give confidence to us the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, especially the Papua Police and the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force to free Captain Philip Mark Merhtens. Said the Kapolda.

In addition, Head of Ops Peace Cartenz-2024, Kombes Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos. S.I.K., M.H, also said that Pilot Safety is the most important, so we still prioritize soft approach efforts rather than hard approach.

“We always try to open communication space so that the Pilot can be released immediately and the choice of law enforcement is the last option we can take to free Captain Philip Mark Merhtens.” Concluded Ka Ops Peace Cartenz-2024.

In the same place, New Zealand Police Liaison Officer. Mr. Paull Borrel gave his appreciation to the government of the Republic of Indonesia, especially the Papua Police and the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops task force, which for 1 year has worked hard to make efforts to free the susi air pilot.

“We appreciate the performance of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, especially the Papua Police and the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force which for the past 1 year has worked hard to free our pilot. We entrust the efforts to free the pilot to the Government of Indonesia and we also apologize if due to the release of the pilot, there are police officers who died in the line of duty,” said Mr. Paull Borrel.

Head of ODC-2024 Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H., on the sidelines of the meeting said that the National Police through the Papua Police and Ops Peace Cartenz-2024 continue to build communication with News Zealand in an effort to free the Susi Air Pilot from the Hostage.
