Negotiations continue, Papua Police Chief asks Egianus to release Susi Air pilot

Jayapura – Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said that his party is ready to fulfill the request of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya who took hostage Susi Air pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens. He can fulfill all their requests except for an independent Papua and weapons.

“It is impossible for us to grant the two requests, but the money that was also requested will be prepared and handed over to Egianus Kogoya as long as the New Zealand hostage is released and handed over to the security forces,” Fakhiri said in Papua on Friday (29/6/2023).

Admittedly, currently negotiations are still being carried out by involving various parties including Egianus Kogoya’s family.

Through negotiations involving his family, it is hoped that Egianus Kogoya is expected to surrender his prisoners who have been held hostage since February 7.

When asked about the threat from Egianus and his group to shoot his hostages, the Kapolda hopes that this will not be done because it will have a broad impact.

“We hope Egianus will not carry out his threat to shoot the Susi Air pilot on July 1,” he hoped.

It is known that the threatening video conveyed through social media which stated that the KKB led by Egianus would shoot Philip who was taken hostage some time ago.
