Jayapura – The Papua Provincial Government ensures the availability of basic necessities in safe conditions ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026. Various anticipatory measures have been prepared to prevent a surge in inflation and the scarcity of goods in the market.
Control efforts have been carried out since the end of 2025 by ensuring that distributors and wholesalers have increased the stock of important commodities. This policy is not only to meet the needs of the community during the 2025 Christmas celebration, but also as a strategic step to face the increase in demand during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.
Head of the Economic Bureau and Development Administration of Setda Papua Province, Andry, explained that based on the monitoring results last December, distributors have increased stock early.
“From the results of our monitoring in December, the distributor has prepared stock for Christmas while anticipating Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” said Andry.
According to him, this step is part of the regional inflation control strategy that is routinely carried out every time before the national religious holiday, where public demand tends to increase.
The Papua Provincial Government also conducts intensive monitoring of the availability and price movements of a number of major commodities such as rice, chili, shallots, tomatoes, cooking oil, and other basic necessities. Supervision is carried out periodically to ensure that prices remain stable and sufficient supply throughout the region.
“Intension monitoring is carried out on the availability and price of basic necessities such as rice, chili, shallots, tomatoes, cooking oil, and other commodities,” he added.
In addition to relying on distribution from outside the region, the government also strengthens the supply from the local production sector. Coordination between the agricultural services at the district/city and provincial levels continues to be carried out to maintain the continuity of production and prevent supply disruptions at the farmer and market levels.
With these steps, the Papua Provincial Government is optimistic that the needs of the community during Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr 2026 can be fulfilled well, so that the community can carry out worship and celebrate holidays calmly without worrying about the availability of basic materials.
