Wamena – The Papua Highlands Provincial Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the optimal implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita across all eight regencies in the province.
Deputy Governor of Papua Highlands Ones Pahabol stated in Wamena on Saturday that over the next five years, the provincial administration will continue to ensure that the President’s eight priority agendas are properly translated and effectively implemented throughout the region.
According to Ones, the Astacita framework, which consists of eight strategic points, serves as a comprehensive guideline for governance and must be carried out by all regional leaders at both the provincial and regency levels.
“The President’s Astacita contains eight key points with broad meaning. These must be interpreted and implemented by every regional leader, both at the provincial and regency levels,” he said.
He explained that the Astacita includes strengthening the ideology of Pancasila, democracy, and human rights, as well as reinforcing national defense and security. It also emphasizes national self-reliance through food, energy, and water self-sufficiency, alongside the development of the creative economy, green economy, and blue economy.
In addition, the agenda focuses on creating quality employment opportunities, encouraging entrepreneurship, developing creative industries, and continuing infrastructure development. Human resource development is also a major priority, covering education, health, science and technology, sports achievement, gender equality, and the empowerment of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Ones further noted that the Astacita also encompasses downstream industrialization to increase domestic value-added, village-based development to promote economic equity and poverty eradication, political and bureaucratic reform, and stronger efforts to prevent and combat corruption and narcotics abuse. Environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and interfaith tolerance are also key elements aimed at achieving a just and prosperous society.
“To realize these goals, the provincial government cannot work alone. Strong collaboration with the central government through relevant ministries and institutions is essential,” he emphasized.
He added that education, health services, infrastructure, and the community economy remain the main focus areas in Papua Highlands. The provincial government is committed to preparing a young generation that is intelligent, skilled, and capable of contributing to the region’s future development.
Furthermore, Ones encouraged communities across the eight regencies to manage natural resources, including forests and land, in a sustainable manner to generate optimal economic benefits.
“The vast land resources should be utilized for agriculture, plantations, and freshwater fisheries. This will help empower economically vulnerable communities. The government, through its technical agencies, will provide maximum support to communities managing these natural resources,” he concluded.
