Jayapura – Efforts to maintain security and order in Papua ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2026 celebrations are increasingly strengthened by the support of community figures. The appreciation was conveyed by Niko Maury, a Papuan community figure who assessed that the performance of the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force had given a positive impact on security stability in the Papua region.
The statement was delivered by Niko Maury on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Jayapura City. He assessed that the presence of the Cartenz Peace Task Force in various vulnerable areas has brought a sense of security and tranquility to the community, especially in facing the sacred religious momentum for Christians.
According to Niko, law enforcement measures carried out by the apparatus against the armed criminal group (KKB) are an important part of the state’s protection to the civil society. With measured and continuous handling, the security situation can be maintained so that people can live their daily lives without fear.
He also highlighted the importance of security stability as the main prerequisite in maintaining social harmony and unity of the Papuan people. The conducive conditions, he said, allow residents to continue their normal activities, including preparing and celebrating Christmas and New Year with their families.
On that occasion, Niko Maury invited all elements of the Papuan community to play an active role in maintaining harmony and supporting security efforts carried out by the government and security forces. According to him, sustainable security can only be realized through togetherness and mutual trust.
“With togetherness and relying on God, we believe that peace can continue to be maintained from Sabang to Merauke,” he said.
As a community figure, Niko Maury also expressed his full support to the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force to continue carrying out its duties with dedication and high integrity. He hopes that the entire series of security agendas during the month of December can proceed safely and smoothly, so that the Papuan people can welcome Christmas with a sense of peace, security, and joy.
