Jayapura – The increasingly conducive security situation in Papua ahead of the 2026 Christmas and New Year celebrations has received positive attention from various elements of the community. The presence of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force is considered to have a real impact on the sense of security and comfort of residents in carrying out daily activities.
This was conveyed by Niko Maury, a Papuan Community Figure who also served as the Chairman of the Papua Provincial Deparda as well as the Chairman of the Panca Marga Youth and the Jayapura City Red and White Barisan, on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Jayapura City. He assessed that the stability of the security that is currently maintained is the result of hard work and dedication of the Cartenz Peace Task Force in the field.
According to Niko, law enforcement efforts that are carried out in a measured and professional manner, especially against armed criminal groups (KKB), have provided a sense of security for the community. This condition allows Papuans to carry out social, economic, and religious activities without worry.
He also highlighted the importance of security stability ahead of Christmas and New Year, which is a sacred moment for the Papuan people. With a safe and controlled situation, people can prepare and celebrate religious holidays peacefully in their homeland.
On that occasion, Niko Maury invited all elements of the community to play an active role in maintaining harmony and not be easily influenced by issues that can disrupt unity. He emphasized that security is not only the responsibility of the apparatus, but also requires support and togetherness from all levels of society.
“With togetherness and relying on God, we believe that peace can continue to be maintained from Sabang to Merauke,” he said.
As a representative of community figures, Niko Maury also expressed his full support to the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force to continue to carry out its duties with dedication and high integrity. He hopes that the entire series of security during December can run smoothly, so that the Papuan people can welcome Christmas and New Year with a sense of security, peace, and joy.
