Jakarta – The President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the acceleration of development in Papua must go hand in hand with efforts to secure all state wealth and strengthen food self-sufficiency to the regional level. The affirmation was conveyed by the President when giving a briefing to the regional heads of Papua together with the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of the Development of Papua’s Special Autonomy at the State Palace, Jakarta.
In his direction, President Prabowo emphasized that the central government continues to work seriously and thoroughly to ensure that all assets and wealth of the country can be secured and utilized as much as possible for the benefit of the people, including to support sustainable development in Papua.
“I as the President am assisted by the ministers, we continue to work now to secure the country’s wealth. We look for assets, we research regulations, and we do not hesitate to do what is necessary so that we can secure all the country’s wealth and use it for the benefit of our people,” said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo emphasized that the acceleration of Papua’s development should not be partial, but must include all strategic sectors, ranging from infrastructure, education, health, to the people’s economy. According to him, strong development can only be realized if supported by a solid foundation, one of which is food security.
He emphasized that food is a basic need and the main pillar of the nation’s survival, so that strengthening food self-sufficiency must be a national priority that is lowered to the regional level, including in the Papua region.
Food is the main foundation of the nation’s life. Food security is the key to the country’s sustainability and must be built from the national level to the regions,” said the President.
Furthermore, President Prabowo said that the strengthening of food security in Papua is also part of the great agenda of national transformation. With the potential of natural resources, Papua is considered to have a great opportunity to become one of the national food self-sufficiency supporters if managed properly, fairly, and sustainably.
