Cartenz Peace Operation 2025 Personnel Support Local Papuan Products Through UMKM Shopping Activity in Timika

Timika — Personnel of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025 continue to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the local economy through a humanistic and community-oriented approach. On Tuesday afternoon, December 16, 2025, personnel from the Public Relations Task Force carried out a humanitarian activity by purchasing locally made Papuan products in Timika, Central Papua.

The activity was conducted by Iptu I Gde Pradana Sthirabudhi, S.Ds., who directly visited local artisans and vendors as part of an effort to strengthen relations between security forces and the community. During the visit, personnel purchased traditional Papuan handicrafts, including small wooden statues and handwoven noken bags produced by local residents.

One of the locations visited was Jalan SP 5, an area widely recognized as a center for noken bag production. At this site, Iptu I Gde Pradana Sthirabudhi interacted directly with Papuan women traders, including Elsa Nawiyuta, commonly known as Mama Elsa, who serves as the head of the local noken weaving group. The presence of Cartenz Peace Operation personnel was warmly welcomed and marked by friendly and sincere interactions.

The activity continued in the Jalan Belibis area, also known as the Emeneme Roundabout in Timika. At this location, personnel once again purchased noken bags as a tangible form of support for local UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and indigenous Papuan products.

Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that the activity is part of a broader humanistic strategy implemented throughout Papua.

“Through simple actions such as purchasing local products, we want to show that the Cartenz Peace Operation is not solely focused on security, but also on providing real support for community welfare and strengthening the local economy,” he said.

In line with this statement, Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that supporting local entrepreneurs plays an important role in building trust between law enforcement personnel and the community.

“This initiative demonstrates that we are present not only as security officers, but also as partners and friends who care about the social and economic well-being of the Papuan people,” he stated.

He added that direct and humanistic interaction is expected to create a sense of safety and comfort for the community in carrying out their daily economic activities.

“With harmonious relations between security personnel and the community, security stability and public welfare in Papua can progress hand in hand,” he added.

Meanwhile, local Papuan vendors expressed their happiness and appreciation for the presence of Cartenz Peace Operation personnel. The involvement of security forces in community economic activities was viewed as providing encouragement, a sense of security, and renewed hope for the sustainability of their small businesses.

Through this activity, the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing a persuasive and humanistic approach, while also supporting local economic empowerment in order to realize a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua.
