JAKARTA — The Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Papua Special Autonomy Development (KEPP Otsus Papua) plans to invite President Prabowo Subianto to attend the 2025 Christmas Celebration in Papua. The agenda will be conveyed directly during a scheduled meeting between all committee members and President Prabowo next week.
Executive Committee member Yanni expressed hope that the President would make time to attend the event, noting that his presence would serve as a strong moral support for the people of Papua.
“This moment would be even more meaningful if the President would also officially proclaim Papua as the Blessed Evangelical Land,” Yanni said on Wednesday (10 December 2025).
Yanni explained that bestowing this title on Papua would strengthen the region’s cultural identity—similar to how Aceh is known as the Veranda of Mecca and Bali as the Island of the Gods. The title symbolizes the integration of religious values, cultural heritage, and national identity.
She emphasized that such recognition would demonstrate the state’s respect for Indonesia’s cultural and religious diversity.
“Indonesia is not homogeneous. The state must give room for the uniqueness of local identities, and that is the true essence of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” she added.
