Central Papua Allocates Rp90 Billion to Support Free Education Program

Central Papua — The Provincial Government of Central Papua has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to education by allocating Rp90 billion for its free education program this year. Governor Meki Nawipa stated that the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on families and ensure that every student in the region can pursue schooling without economic obstacles.

Of the total budget, Rp43.5 billion has been specifically designated to cover operational costs for both public and private senior high schools (SMA) and vocational schools (SMK). A total of 26,217 students are now benefiting from free schooling fully funded by the provincial government.

Governor Nawipa also instructed the heads of education departments across all regencies to ensure that the distribution of funds complies with regulations and is monitored transparently. He emphasized that integrity in budget management is crucial so that the benefits of the free education program can be felt equally by all communities in Central Papua.

With significant financial support and strengthened oversight, the Central Papua Provincial Government hopes this initiative will enhance the quality of human resources and open greater opportunities for the region’s younger generation.
