Papua — PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo officially presents a clean energy source for the people of Kampung Ausem, Yerui District, Papua, through the construction of a Microhydroelectric Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 10 kW and a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 7 kWp. This program is an important milestone in providing environmentally friendly electricity in the interior of Papua.

The Director of Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hendra Iswahyudi, said that the presence of these two plants is a real form of synergy in encouraging green energy in the eastern region of Indonesia.

“This is a very good collaboration between the energy side and the blue economy. At least this village has supported the government’s commitment in reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Hendra in his official statement in Banyuwangi, East Java.

This program is part of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Pelindo in collaboration with Ibeka Foundation, providing stable electricity access for 24 hours for 154 people from 35 heads of families, including 10 public facilities. Through this program, Ausem becomes the first village in Yerui District to enjoy sustainable electricity based on new renewable energy (EBT).

Residents of Ausem Village can now utilize electricity for home lighting, learning activities, health facilities, houses of worship, and productive economic activities that were previously very limited due to lack of energy access.

Pelindo said that this clean energy investment is expected to increase the welfare of the community as well as be an example of effective EBT implementation in 3T areas (ahead, outermost, behind).
