YAHUKIMO, DEKAI — The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz together with the Yahukimo Police evacuated the body of a construction worker who was found dead in the Jalan Gunung area, Yahukimo Regency, Wednesday (11/19/2025) around 14.04 WIT. The victim is known to be named Baharudin, a resident of Mandati II, South Wangi-Wangi.
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said that the team moved quickly after receiving reports of the discovery of the bodies of GIDI Motulen Church building workers. The joint team immediately went to the location to ensure the condition of the crime scene (TKP) and carry out an evacuation.
“As soon as the report was received, the team was immediately deployed to the location to ensure the situation and evaluate the victim’s body. This is the first step to uncover the cause of the incident thoroughly.”
Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., separately said that the initial information was obtained from several witnesses who knew the victim.
“The testimony of the witnesses really helped us in mapping the victim’s latest activities. This initial information will later become the basis for the further investigation process.”
LE’s witness explained that the victim worked as a handyman as well as a stall guard since 2017 during the construction of the GIDI Motulen Church. After the church was inaugurated on October 30, 2025, the victims no longer worked but remained in the handyman camp.
LJ’s witness, said the victim was part of the team since the beginning of the church construction and played a role as a cook. As for the witness H. admitted that he last met the victim on November 15, 2025 when the person concerned went down to Dekai City to shop.
The victim was found in the garden area near where he lived without clothes, only wearing blue trousers and barefoot. The victim’s body was lying on his back with a stab wound on the left neck.
At the crime scene, officers found evidence allegedly used by the perpetrator, in the form of a crossbow and a bow. The temporary perpetrator is suspected to be part of an armed criminal group.
The team then combed the area around the location and met three OAP people who were then brought to be questioned. The three of them have the initials JK, LK, and YP, Tim also secured items in the form of noken, clothes, wallets, and even one cell phone unit.
After the initial examination, the joint team evacuated Baharudin’s body to the Dekai Hospital for the identification process and further examination by the medical side. The investigation into the motive and perpetrator of the murder is still ongoing by the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz and the Yahukimo Police.
