Jayapura — In anticipation of the 2026 Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua), in collaboration with Perum Bulog, launched the Affordable Food Movement by distributing 165 tons of SPHP rice across three provinces: Papua, South Papua, and Central Highlands Papua. This initiative aims to stabilize rice prices and ensure that the public has access to essential goods at affordable prices.
The symbolic release of the rice distribution was carried out by Papua Deputy Regional Police Chief Brig. Gen. Faizal Ramadhani at the Papua Regional Police Headquarters on Thursday (November 6, 2025). The event was attended by Papua Police Supervisory Inspector (Irwasda), senior police officials, and several heads of related regional offices, including Bulog Papua, the Provincial Office of Food Crops, Horticulture, and Food, the Provincial Trade Office, and the DPMPTSP, as well as district police chiefs from the recipient regions.
Out of the total 165 tons of rice distributed, 95 tons were allocated to the Papua Province. The distribution was carried out through the Special Crimes Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Papua Police with 20 tons, while the remaining amount was delivered through eight district police stations: Jayapura City Police, Jayapura Police, Keerom Police, Sarmi Police, Biak Numfor Police, Supiori Police, Waropen Police, and Yapen Islands Police. The shipment from Jayapura to Sarmi utilized 12 logistic trucks.
In South Papua Province, a total of 40 tons of SPHP rice were distributed, with 10 tons each allocated to Merauke, Boven Digoel, Asmat, and Mappi Police Stations. Meanwhile, Central Highlands Papua Province received 30 tons, distributed through Jayawijaya, Mamberamo Tengah, and Lanny Jaya Police Stations.
The Director of the Special Crimes Directorate of Papua Police, Commissioner I Gde Era Adhinata, stated that the initiative reflects the ongoing synergy between the National Police and Bulog in maintaining food security and preventing spikes in rice prices.
“Our duty is not only to enforce the law but also to contribute to economic stability and food security for the community. Through this program, we hope rice prices remain stable and public needs are adequately met,” said Commissioner Era Adhinata.
He added that the government’s highest retail price (HET) for SPHP rice in Papua is set at Rp13,500 per kilogram, or Rp67,500 per 5-kilogram package. Based on National Police Chief Decree No. KEP/1296/VII/2025, dated August 27, 2025, the total SPHP rice distribution target for Papua Police amounts to 2,507,029 kilograms, or approximately 2,508 tons.
Era Adhinata further urged the public to report to the Food Security Task Force (Satgas Pangan) of Papua Police or local district police stations if they find SPHP rice being sold above the fixed retail price.
“We hope this distribution strengthens food stock availability across regions and prevents potential shortages at the end of the year,” he added.
Through the Affordable Food Movement, Papua Police reaffirm their commitment to ensuring equitable rice distribution across the three provinces — Papua, South Papua, and Central Highlands Papua — while supporting stable prices and sustainable food security for the people.
