Jayapura – The Provincial Government of Papua Tengah, through its Department of Education and Culture, is working to provide quality education by strengthening inter-agency collaboration to ensure that all children receive fair and proper access to education.
Acting Head of the Papua Tengah Department of Education and Culture, Nurhaida, stated in a press release received in Jayapura on Saturday that her office had conducted a coordination meeting to implement, evaluate, and synchronize priority programs in the education sector involving the Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek).
“Through this activity, we encourage synergy among the Education and Culture Offices across Papua Tengah to realize equitable and quality education,” she said.
According to Nurhaida, the department also continues to work on reducing the number of out-of-school children in the region through cross-sectoral collaboration.
She explained that the Education and Culture Offices throughout Papua Tengah have also signed a cooperation agreement to accelerate access and improve the quality of education as part of efforts to create excellent human resources (HR).
“One of the outcomes of this agreement is the need for a governor’s regulation (Pergub) designating Thursday as the mandatory Noken Day and Local Language Day,” she added.
She further explained that this policy draws reference from the Noken bag, which was recognized by UNESCO in 2012 as an intangible cultural heritage, making its preservation an important responsibility.
“This policy aims to foster pride in the cultural identity of the indigenous Papuan people and to promote the growth of a creative economy rooted in local traditions,” she said.
