Jayapura – The Food and Drug Supervisory Center (BBPOM) Jayapura ensures that various household industrial products and micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) circulating in the Jayapura Regency area are declared safe and suitable for public consumption.
This was conveyed by the Pharmaceutical and Food Supervisor of BBPOM Jayapura, Iin Siti Korinah, in the development activities for UMKM actors that took place in Jayapura Regency. He emphasized that BBPOM continues to monitor and assist business actors to ensure the quality, safety, and feasibility of local processed food products.
“We do this effort so that the supervision of the quality and quality of food can be guaranteed, so that the public can get quality food products and safe to consume,” said Iin Siti Korinah.
In addition to conducting field inspections, BBPOM Jayapura is also actively providing education to MSMEs about the importance of implementing the Good Processed Food Production Method (CPPOB). This approach is expected to increase the awareness of business actors in maintaining cleanliness, safety of raw materials, and production processes that are in accordance with standards.
Iin explained that BBPOM Jayapura currently has a superior program called “Sago Emas Papua”, which is an accompanying forum for MSMEs to strengthen the competitiveness of local products in the market.
“Through the Sago Emas Papua program, we not only accompany MSMEs that produce processed foods, but also those who develop traditional medicine products and local cosmetics. The goal is for these products to have a distribution permit, quality standards, and higher economic value,” he added.
BBPOM Jayapura hopes that the collaboration between local governments and MSME actors can continue to be improved, so that food security supervision can be sustainable. Thus, Papuan people not only get safe products, but also are able to enjoy better economic results from locally managed potentials professionally.
