Jayapura – The Investigation Sub-Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz carried out the handover of a suspect and evidence (Phase II) to the Jayapura District Prosecutor’s Office on Friday (October 24, 2025). The suspect, identified as Yopi Balingga, was formally transferred to the authorities as part of the ongoing legal process.
The activity was led by IPTU Kamaruddin, S.H., accompanied by Bripka Jefri J. Thomas and Briptu Arthur D. Sanadi. The process began at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT) at the Papua Regional Police Detention Directorate (Dit Tahti Polda Papua). After completing administrative preparations and the release of the detainee, the team proceeded to the Jayapura District Prosecutor’s Office. At around 10:51 a.m. WIT, the suspect and 16 rounds of ammunition as evidence were officially handed over to the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
The suspect, Yopi Balingga, was previously apprehended in late August 2025 in Lanny Jaya Regency. He is allegedly involved in a network of armed criminal groups (KKB) engaged in the illegal distribution of ammunition across the central highlands of Papua.
The Chief of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., expressed his appreciation for the team’s performance in completing the legal process up to Phase II.
“This law enforcement effort reflects the National Police’s commitment to maintaining stability and upholding justice in Papua,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of Operation, Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the prosecutor’s office.
“Synergy among law enforcement agencies is crucial to ensure that the legal process proceeds in accordance with the principles of law and humanity,” he said.
The handover process proceeded safely, orderly, and smoothly, further demonstrating Operation Peace Cartenz’s commitment to professional, humane, and fair law enforcement in Papua.
