Yahukimo — Personnel from the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, together with members of the Yahukimo Police, responded swiftly to a report of a serious assault against a civilian named Ambotang (52), a Bugis ethnic man who works as a private entrepreneur and resides on Jalan Sosial, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.
The stabbing incident, allegedly committed by supporters of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) claiming to be from Kodap XVI Yahukimo, occurred at the Pasar Baru Intersection, Jalan Sosial, Dekai, on Wednesday evening (October 22, 2025), around 6:45 p.m. WIT.
The victim sustained lacerations to the left side of his neck, left elbow, and left ribs caused by an attack using a sharp weapon identified as an axe. Upon receiving the report via police radio (HT) from Yahukimo Police, the joint team from Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 immediately arrived at the scene and evacuated the victim to the Emergency Unit of Dekai Regional Hospital (RSUD Dekai) for medical treatment. The victim is currently conscious but remains in severe shock, preventing a detailed statement from being taken at this time.
Based on preliminary investigation and witness accounts at the scene, the assault occurred suddenly while the victim was sitting in front of his kiosk. Two perpetrators, allegedly local residents of Yahukimo, fled toward Jalan Sosial Kalibonto after committing the attack. At the scene, officers secured several pieces of evidence, including one axe used by the suspect and a pair of white-and-blue sandals.
According to the initial analysis of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, the perpetrators are suspected to be sympathizers of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Kodap XVI Yahukimo. The attack is believed to have been carried out to increase the group’s visibility and create instability in the Yahukimo area.
Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., strongly condemned the violent act against the civilian and emphasized that joint forces are conducting an intensive investigation to identify the perpetrators and their network.
“We strongly condemn this assault on a civilian. Based on preliminary findings, there is a strong indication that the perpetrators are linked to sympathizers of KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo, who aim to spread fear among the public,” said Brigadier General of Police Faizal.
He added that the TNI–Polri (Indonesian Armed Forces and Police) will continue to intensify law enforcement operations and security patrols in vulnerable areas to ensure that the situation remains safe and under control.
Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, affirmed that the authorities will not tolerate any groups or individuals attempting to disrupt security stability in Yahukimo.
“We will strengthen patrols and surveillance in several strategic locations. The state must not lose to terror and violence. We guarantee that the community will remain safe and protected,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma.
As of now, the situation in Dekai remains safe and under control. Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 and the Yahukimo Police continue to conduct monitoring and gather intelligence and witness statements from the scene.
