Jayapura — The Governor of Papua, Mathius D. Fakhiri, reaffirmed his commitment to securing sponsorship support for Persipura Jayapura, ensuring that the pride of Papuan football continues to compete in the national arena.
In his statement in Jayapura on Sunday (October 19), Fakhiri emphasized that Persipura represents more than just sports—it is a symbol of unity, fighting spirit, and the identity of the Papuan people.
“The regional government will strive to find sponsorship partners so that Persipura can continue to run well and once again demonstrate its achievements at the national level,” Fakhiri said.
He explained that efforts to attract sponsors will involve collaboration with various parties, including private companies, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and businesses operating in Papua. The initiative will also be presented to the central government as part of efforts to ensure sustainable sports development in the region.
Fakhiri noted that sufficient financial support is crucial to maintaining the existence of the team known as the Black Pearl. Beyond its sporting achievements, Persipura also plays an important role in inspiring and motivating Papua’s young generation to pursue excellence.
“Persipura is our shared pride. We all have a moral responsibility to ensure this team continues to thrive and bring honor to Papua on the national stage,” the Governor stated.
Through this initiative, the Papua Provincial Government hopes that Persipura Jayapura will rise from its challenges and once again inspire the people of the Land of Cenderawasih through remarkable sporting achievements.
