Jayapura, October 17, 2025 — Academic from Cenderawasih University (UNCEN) Papua, Apner Krei, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation to the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz for its vital role in maintaining security and upholding the law in Papua. According to him, the presence of the Task Force is a strategic step by the state in implementing a new security paradigm rooted in humanitarian values, dialogue, and inclusive social development.
In his statement in Jayapura on Friday (October 17), Apner emphasized that law enforcement and security efforts in Papua should not be viewed merely as military operations, but also as efforts to build mutual trust between the state and the people.
“The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz represents the state’s effort to be more adaptive and empathetic toward the social realities and cultural values of the Papuan people,” said Apner.
As an academic who closely observes social and security dynamics in Papua, Apner stated that a humanistic approach must go hand in hand with development and education. He believes that true security can only be achieved when people feel the state’s presence not only through security forces, but also through fair public services, quality education, and equitable welfare.
Furthermore, he called on all stakeholders — including local governments, traditional institutions, churches, youth groups, and all elements of society — to become critical and constructive partners of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz. This collaboration, he said, is essential to ensure that every law enforcement effort continues to uphold human rights and the dignity of indigenous Papuans.
“Security in Papua should not only be defined as the absence of conflict, but as the presence of safety, justice, and peace in people’s daily lives,” Apner emphasized.
He added that through the synergy between security and humanitarian approaches, Papua can become a more conducive space for dialogue, development, and a better future for all residents, especially indigenous Papuans.
“We hope that the presence of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz will not only bring a sense of security but also strengthen public trust in the government,” he concluded.
