NABIRE — The act of violence carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya against civilians at Kilometer 20, Kali Semen, Wadio District, Nabire Regency, Central Papua, on Friday (October 17, 2025) at around 10:00 a.m. local time, has shocked local residents.
The incident occurred not far from downtown Nabire, sparking fear and concern among the community.
Chairman of the Saireri II Nabire Indigenous Youth, Ali Kabiay, strongly condemned the attack, calling it an act of cowardice.
“They only dare to shoot innocent civilians,” Ali said on Saturday (October 18, 2025).
Ali stated that the actions of Aibon Kogoya’s group were not only disgraceful but also deeply harmful to regional stability.
“Such acts only destroy the order of governance, disrupt the development process, and threaten public security and stability in Central Papua,” he emphasized.
Ali added that Nabire, as the capital of Central Papua Province, is currently undergoing rapid development and serves as a barometer for surrounding regions. Therefore, he urged security forces to strengthen monitoring and patrols in key areas.
“I ask security personnel to safeguard vital areas, especially along the Trans Nabire–Paniai Road, Kilometer 100, Muara Kali Wanggar, and the road behind Jati Dharma Indah, to prevent separatist groups from entering,” he said.
He also called on all citizens to remain united in maintaining peace and security in their communities, in order to realize a safe and harmonious Nabire.
“I also hope that armed criminal groups will come to their senses and return to the fold of the Republic of Indonesia so they can take part in developing Central Papua,” he concluded.
