Nabire – The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, in collaboration with Nabire Police Resort, is conducting a thorough investigation into a shooting incident involving civilians that occurred in Kali Semen, Wadio Atas, Nabire Barat District, Nabire Regency, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM WIT.
Initial findings suggest that the attack was carried out by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya, targeting a civilian vehicle traveling along the route.
The incident resulted in one fatality and four others injured by gunfire and shrapnel. The victims’ Hilux vehicle was found severely damaged, riddled with multiple bullet holes.
The victims have been identified as follows:
Masturiyadi (50 years old) – sustained a gunshot wound to the back right side of the head and was declared deceased at the scene.
Yance Makai (38 years old) – resident of Kalibobo Putaran 2, suffered six lacerations on the left arm, underarm, and left abdomen.
Aser Kegou (45 years old) – resident of SP2, Nabire Barat, sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.
Martinus Makai (42 years old) – a civil servant, sustained facial abrasions caused by shattered glass.
Ari – resident of Wonorejo, Nabire Regency, sustained gunshot wounds to both arms.
All victims were evacuated to Nabire Regional General Hospital (RSUD Nabire) at approximately 11:05 AM WIT for immediate medical treatment.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025 (Kaops), Brigadier General of Police (Brigjen Pol.) Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., expressed his condolences and emphasized a firm response toward the perpetrators.
“We strongly condemn this violent attack against civilians. Joint security personnel responded swiftly to evacuate the victims and are now focusing efforts on pursuing the group responsible,” said Brigjen Pol. Faizal.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police (Kombes Pol.) Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that security measures have been reinforced in the Nabire Barat area.
“We have intensified patrols and surveillance along identified high-risk routes. The safety and security of the public remain our highest priority in Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025,” he said.
As of now, the situation at the scene is reported to be stable and under control. Joint TNI–Polri forces continue to conduct sweeps and collect witness statements to uncover the perpetrators’ network and determine the motive behind the attack.
