Wamena, Papua Pegunungan — Three suspected members of an armed criminal group (KKB) involved in a series of violent incidents in Yahukimo Regency have officially been handed over to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings. The Phase II handover, which included both the suspects and supporting evidence, took place on Tuesday (October 13, 2025) in Wamena.
The three suspects handed over were identified as Hombim Sama alias Dilan Sama, Nander Sobolim, and Ami Sobolim alias Wanggol Sobolim. They were previously arrested for their involvement in several serious crimes — including attacks on healthcare workers and teachers in Anggruk District, aggravated assault, and grand theft.
The handover process was carried out by joint personnel of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force and Yahukimo Police. The transfer was conducted under tight security, starting from Sentani Airport to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office in Wamena, and concluded with the suspects being placed in Wamena Class IIB Correctional Facility.
“Today, we officially handed over three KKB suspects involved in several violent attacks against civilians in Yahukimo. This reflects the firm commitment of the Indonesian National Police and law enforcement agencies to ensure that every armed criminal in Papua is brought to justice,” said Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force, Brig. Gen. (Pol) Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Task Force, Commissioner (Pol) Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the ongoing legal process against the three suspects demonstrates the strong cooperation between law enforcement agencies in maintaining security and stability across Yahukimo and surrounding regions.
“This firm and measured law enforcement effort sends a clear message to other armed groups to cease their acts of violence. We will continue coordinating with local police and the Prosecutor’s Office to ensure the safety of the Papuan people,” asserted Commissioner Adarma Sinaga.
Evidence handed over to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office included several bladed weapons, stones, bloodstained clothing, and personal belongings of both victims and perpetrators linked to the criminal acts.
With this Phase II handover, the suspects will now face prosecution proceedings led by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office.
“We want to make it clear that every act of violence in Papua, particularly those carried out by armed groups, will not go unpunished. Each perpetrator will be processed thoroughly to uphold justice for the victims and ensure public safety,” concluded Brig. Gen. Faizal Ramadhani.
