Unissula Semarang Welcomes Three Students from Papua

Semarang — The Faculty of Communication Science (Fikom) at Sultan Agung Islamic University (Unissula) Semarang has officially welcomed three new students from Papua. The students were personally received by Fikom lecturer, Dannia Ayu Martina, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., upon their arrival at Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang.

The three students are Gabriela Estrella Tukayo, a graduate of SMA Negeri 1 Jayapura; Rhingo Krates Done, an alumnus of SMKS YPKP TIK, Jayapura Regency; and Michael Deskratos Rumbiak, a graduate of SMA Negeri 3 Sentani. They will pursue undergraduate studies in Communication Science at Unissula through the KIP-K scholarship program.

Dean of Fikom Unissula, Trimanah, S.Sos., M.Si., stated that the university remains committed to contributing to the nation’s education by embracing diversity among students. She warmly welcomed all new students, including those from Papua.

“Unissula is a progressive and inclusive university, open to students from across the archipelago and from various countries. We sincerely hope these three students from Papua can study well and make the most of their time here,” she said on Wednesday (October 8, 2025).

Trimanah also expressed her hope that Papuan students would complete their studies on time and later return to contribute to their home regions.

“Graduate on schedule, and afterward, go back to develop your communities,” she added.

Meanwhile, Gabriela said her motivation for studying Communication Science at Unissula is to prepare for broad and exciting career opportunities. Rhingo hopes to further strengthen his multimedia skills developed during vocational school, while Michael aims to build a solid foundation for a digital-era career and deepen his understanding of media and society.
