Road Worker Shot Dead by Armed Criminal Group in Intan Jaya, Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz Condemns Brutal Act Hindering Development

Intan Jaya, Central Papua — An act of armed violence once again occurred in Intan Jaya Regency, claiming the life of a road construction worker. The victim, Anselmus Arfin (25), an employee of PT TJP, was shot dead by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) while conducting a road measurement survey in Ndugusiga Village on Wednesday (October 8, 2025).

The tragic incident happened at around 10:20 a.m. local time, when the victim and four colleagues were operating a tractor along the border between Ndugusiga and Bambu Kuning Villages. Suddenly, a single gunshot was heard from the left side of the road, hitting the victim in the left chest and exiting through his back.

His co-worker, Muhammad Rasyid, and other team members immediately evacuated the victim to Sugapa Regional Hospital (RSUD Sugapa), but he was pronounced dead due to the gunshot wound.

Head of Peace Operation Cartenz, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, strongly condemned the brutal attack, stating that such actions by KKB have obstructed infrastructure development and endangered civilians contributing to regional progress.

“This armed criminal act not only took the life of a civilian who worked to build his own region but also hindered the acceleration of infrastructure development in Papua. The state will not retreat in ensuring security and sustainable development in this region,” said Brigadier General of Police Faizal Ramadhani.

The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring that strategic infrastructure projects in Papua can continue without disruption from armed groups.
