Dogiyai Residents Firmly Reject Armed Separatist Group: “Papua Needs Peace, Not Violence”

Dogiyai, Central Papua — A strong wave of rejection against the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) has once again echoed from Papua. This time, it comes from Dogiyai Regency, where local communities—along with religious leaders, traditional elders, youth representatives, and women’s groups—have taken a united stand: Papua must be free from armed terror.

The people believe that the KKB has never brought hope, only suffering. Instead of fighting for the people’s interests, the group spreads fear, engages in extortion, and forces residents to live under constant threat.

“Enough is enough. We do not want the KKB in our land any longer. They are not bringers of peace but a source of suffering for the Papuan people,” declared Catholic catechist Germanus Goo, a religious leader spearheading the moral movement against the KKB, on Monday (October 6, 2025).

As a concrete step, the people of Dogiyai have launched a peace petition rejecting the presence of the KKB. The initiative has gained widespread support from all sectors of society: traditional leaders, village authorities, youth groups, and especially women—many of whom live daily under the shadow of armed threats.

Community leader Yonas Tebai described the hardships endured by locals due to the KKB’s actions. “We are tired of living in fear. They often come demanding money and food. They claim to fight for Papua, but in reality, their actions only bring suffering to fellow Papuans,” he said passionately.

The petition will soon be submitted to the regional government and security authorities as a strong show of public support for efforts to restore stability and peace in Central Papua.

The movement in Dogiyai sends a clear message: Papua does not need weapons or violence. The united voice of the people is a far more powerful moral force against the terror and chaos brought by the KKB.

Papua does not need war. Papua needs peace, love, and a prosperous future for all its people.
