Jayapura–Sentani – The importance of maintaining peace and security in Papua has once again been emphasized by local community leaders. Nelvis K. Manobi, Chairman of the Jayapura Regency Board of the Indonesian Renewal Youth Force (AMPI) and Deputy Chairman of AMPI Papua Province, underlined that safeguarding stability should not rest solely on the shoulders of law enforcement but requires active participation from all layers of society.
According to him, the measures taken by Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz in handling armed criminal groups (KKB) have already shown concrete results, but sustaining peace depends largely on the involvement of the people themselves.
“Security in Papua is a shared responsibility. We have seen that the police, through Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz, have worked at their maximum capacity, but communities also need to play their role in keeping their surroundings safe and conducive,” Nelvis stated on Thursday (September 25, 2025).
He noted that the success of the authorities in uncovering various KKB-related cases reflects the government’s commitment to protecting citizens. However, he stressed that such progress would be stronger if accompanied by active participation from the people.
“We must all provide support in simple ways, such as watching over one another, reminding each other, and refusing to be provoked by groups attempting to disrupt Papua’s peace,” he added.
Nelvis also called on Papua’s younger generation to take a leading role in safeguarding public order. As a youth leader, he expressed his hope that young people would become role models in building social harmony.
“Let us stand together, hand in hand, so that Papua can continue to be a land of safety, peace, and prosperity for all its people,” he concluded.
