Mulia, Puncak Jaya, Papua Highlands — The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz has successfully dismantled a supply chain providing weapons and ammunition to an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Karubate Village, Muara District, Puncak Jaya Regency, on Monday (September 29, 2025).
During the operation, security forces arrested two KKB members identified as Erek Enumbi, also known as Udara, and Hugon Gire, also known as Yemiter Murip. Authorities confirmed that Hugon Gire was caught carrying ammunition intended to be delivered to another KKB member, Ternus Enumbi, alias Tesko, who is also active in the Puncak Jaya region.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, confirmed the arrests.
“From the suspects, we seized evidence including six rounds of 9 mm ammunition, two rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, four rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, a sling bag, a blue plastic bag, two banana leaves, and one Tecno Spark mobile phone,” Brig. Gen. Faizal stated.
“The origin of the seized ammunition is still under investigation by the Task Force,” he added.
Separately, the Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, explained that the suspects were apprehended while carrying the ammunition.
He emphasized that the task force remains committed to cracking down on all supply networks providing weapons and ammunition to the armed groups in Papua.
“We urge the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. Stay calm and trust the law enforcement process entirely to us,” Chief Comm. Adarma concluded.
