Mulia, Puncak Jaya, Papua Pegunungan – The efforts of the Armed Criminal Group to strengthen its weapons were again successfully thwarted by the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz. In a law enforcement operation held in Karubate Village, Muara District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Monday (29/9/2025), officers succeeded in dismantling the ammunition supply line to the Armed Criminal Group as well as securing two people involved.
The two perpetrators who were arrested were Erek Enumbi alias Air and Hugon Gire alias Yemiter Murip. From the hand of Hugon Gire, the Task Force found a number of ammunition that were ready to be distributed to the Armed Criminal Group network led by Ternus Enumbi alias Tesko. This finding further strengthens the suspicion that there is a network that actively tries to supply ammunition to armed groups in the Central Mountains region.
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz Brigadier General of Police. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that the success of this operation is a strategic step to weaken the Armed Criminal Group movement.
“The evidence that we seized was six 9 mm caliber ammunition, two 7,62 mm caliber ammunition, four 5,56 mm caliber ammunition, one sling bag, one blue plastic bag, two banana leaves, and one mobile phone unit. We are working on everything to reveal its origin,” explained Brigadier General Faizal.
He added, every ammunition that fails to get into the hands of Armed Criminal Group means that one potential attack can be prevented. “This is part of our strategy to suppress the movement space of armed groups while protecting the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz Chief Commisioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of the role of the community in maintaining security together.
“When arrested, the perpetrator clearly brought ammunition that will be supplied to the Armed Criminal Group This is proof that they are still trying to strengthen themselves. But we are sure, this kind of network will not be allowed to develop,” said Adarma.
He also appealed to the public to stay alert and report immediately if they know of suspicious activity. “People don’t be afraid. Report to the authorities, because our success cannot be separated from the participation of residents who care about the safety of their environment,” he said.
With the thwart of this ammunition supply, the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz emphasized its commitment to continue to maintain security stability in Puncak Jaya and the Mountainous Papua region. Efforts to cut off arms distribution channels are seen as an important step to suppress the potential escalation of the conflict and create a safe and peaceful Papua.
