Mulia – The Regent of Puncak Jaya, Dr. Yuni Wonda, S.Sos., S.IP., MM, together with the Deputy Regent, the Chair of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRK), and the Regional Secretary of Puncak Jaya, conducted direct inspections of several key locations that will host the upcoming visit of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Central Papua Province, along with eight Regents from across the Central Papua region.
This activity is part of the preparations to welcome a strategic agenda that will take place in Puncak Jaya. The inspection was carried out to ensure infrastructure readiness, safety, and the comfort of locations to be visited by the provincial leaders.
In his statement, Regent Yuni Wonda emphasized that the visit is not merely ceremonial but also an important moment to strengthen synergy among regions within Central Papua.
“We want to ensure that Puncak Jaya is ready, both physically and socially, to welcome these important guests. This is also an opportunity to showcase the potential of our region,” he said.
The Regent, accompanied by his entourage, was warmly received by the community upon arrival at Amanah Field. In a spirit of togetherness, one resident expressed a unique initiative to welcome the Governor, Deputy Governor, and the eight Regents from Central Papua.
The resident explained that the community would prepare bakar batu (traditional stone-cooking feast) at several designated sites, each marked with a signboard. This arrangement would allow each district head to organize their groups to take part in communal work and hold the bakar batu ceremony at their assigned site.
“We will start the bakar batu at 3 a.m., so that by morning, the smoke will rise and be visible as a gesture of welcome,” the resident said enthusiastically.
The bakar batu tradition is not only a cultural symbol but also an expression of respect and pride from the people of Puncak Jaya for the visit of Central Papua’s leaders. This activity is expected to strengthen the bond between the government and the community while highlighting the region’s readiness to host distinguished guests.
