Agats, Asmat – Armed violence erupted again in Papua as the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of Kodap XVI Yahukimo, led by Elkius Kobak, carried out an assault in Kolf Braza District, Asmat Regency, on Sunday (September 21, 2025). The attackers shot a civilian identified as Indra Guru Wardana before setting his house on fire until it was completely destroyed.
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brig. Gen. Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., confirmed the incident. He explained that data collection is still ongoing due to difficult access and limited communication.
“The crime scene is quite far from Suator Police Station and communication is not very reliable, so we are still gathering complete information regarding this incident,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Sr. Comr. Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the attackers were estimated to number six people, with one carrying a long-barreled firearm equipped with a scope.
Currently, the Peace Cartenz Task Force continues to secure the area and conduct further investigation. Police emphasized that the state will never bow to armed terror acts and that protecting civilians remains their top priority.
