Merauke – The arrival of Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, in Merauke Regency, South Papua, marks an important moment that reflects the central government’s attention to development and the welfare of the Papuan people. To ensure the smooth implementation of the agenda, as many as 407 Merauke Police personnel were deployed for security operations.
Hundreds of officers were stationed at several strategic and vital points, ranging from Mopah Airport Merauke, the travel routes taken by the entourage, the hotel where the Vice President stayed, to the official event venues. A layered security system was put in place to guarantee that every part of the program runs safely, orderly, and under control.
The Vice President’s two-day working visit includes several important agendas directly addressing the needs of the people in South Papua. The Acting Governor of South Papua emphasized that this visit is clear evidence of the central government’s strong commitment to accelerating development in the region.
“For us, the Vice President’s visit is not merely a state agenda, but also a real form of the government’s commitment to the progress and welfare of the Papuan people,” he stated.
