MIMIKA — The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Mimika Baru Police successfully arrested five suspects involved in cases of robbery with violence, assault, and vandalism that had unsettled residents. The arrest operation was led by the Head of Criminal Investigation, Ipda Teguh Krisandi Fardha.
Mimika Baru Police Chief, AKP Putut Yudha Pratama, revealed that the suspects are identified by the initials EU, SY, HR, RI, and AM. “The first suspect was arrested on September 9, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time at his residence. The other four were apprehended early morning on September 10, 2025, around 2:30 a.m. near the shop-houses before the Kuala Kencana Check Point,” he explained.
The arrests were based on three police reports: the first related to a robbery on Jalan Petrosea, the second regarding an assault on Jalan Cenderawasih near the Three Kings Cathedral, and a third follow-up report filed later.
The crime spree began on September 8, 2025, when the suspects intercepted and assaulted a man named Gabriel on Jalan Petrose, stealing his motorbike and mobile phone. The following day, they vandalized a car on Jalan Makarena by banging on its rear door and striking it with a machete, shattering the rear window. The group also assaulted another victim, Heiberto, causing a machete wound to the back of his head.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted that this was their first criminal act, despite carrying out multiple offenses in different locations. “The motive started with alcohol. They went on a convoy looking for victims, seemingly to gain recognition and prove their toughness,” the Police Chief emphasized.
